Facebook Fan Pages
Elements of a Good Fan Page
A good Fan Page includes the following elements:
- Branded profile picture. Located in the top left corner, this graphical image should ideally measure 180 pixels (wide) x 540 pixels (tall). It represents your business and should include your logo and colors.
- User-friendly navigation tabs. When someone clicks a link to become a fan of your business, it’s imperative that your navigation tabs on your Fan Page are labeled with a marketing mindset. For example, if you offer free downloads, then label one of the tabs “Free downloads.”
- About page. Your Fan Page should include an “About” page, and this is the place where you can show off the personal side of your life. You can include pictures, little stories, and tidbits that your fan base might want to know about you but couldn’t find out in any other location.

A note about “Likes”. When you are logged into your Facebook Fan Page and you “Like” another page, anyone who views your Fan Page will be able to see your page favorites. WARNING: If you don’t want your visitors to see the other pages that you have “LIKED,” then don’t click on another site’s “LIKE” button when you are logged into your Facebook Fan Page. You can always log into your personal Facebook profile page to “LIKE” a site; that way, you won’t be exposing your personal “LIKES” with your business “LIKES.” Make sense?
Facebook Wall. This is the area where you will create and share your posts. This is also where your fans can jump into the conversation with their own comments, and then they can share the wall posts with their friends. A good rule to practice is that in every fourth post, you should advertise one of your products or include a link to Twitter or your website.
Fan Page Content. Your content should include your keywords, links to your products and services and links to a squeeze page where your customers can give you their e-mail address in exchange for information. When you include top quality content on all of your pages, and your links connect to more high quality content, then more people will sign up for your Fan Page.
It’s also a good idea to include a bonus or something for free… It’s good viral marketing practice. (see our free book giveway here: http://www.gympiefanpages.com/facebook-for-business)
